Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents named her Winona for her hometown. Michel Horowitz was her father as well as Cynthia Palmer, his mother are both authors as well as editors. Ryder, who considers herself Jewish, is descended from Ryder's Jewish father. Ryder is also half-sister to Sunyata Jubal. Her older sister is Uria. Ryder's family moved from Mendocino County, California when she was seven. They resided in an area without electricity. Ryder was a voracious read and often spent her time studying books since she had no television. Ryder started to take acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre when she reached the age of 12. In 1986 she was offered her first role on the big screen in the movie Lucas she was only 15 years old. Ryder faced bullying during her high school years. Her hope was that the acting profession would end that. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. But that didn't stop her pursuing dreams. In 1988, she got her biggest break with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued to play numerous roles that were successful. In 1993, she was nominated twice for Academy Awards. One of was for her performance as a character in The Age of Innocence.
