Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is a famous American woman of business. She is the controlling owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently acts as the association's president. Buss was born in California and grew up as an heir to a prestigious family. Jerry Buss, her father, was an entrepreneur in the field of real estate and later eventually became the proprietor of Lakers Sports and Entertainment. After her parents split up in 1972 she felt that they'd left her. Her family's business was started in the age of 19 to become the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. She later set up her own Los Angeles Blades professional roller hockey team. She was the the president for Great Western Forum prior to becoming vice-president for the Lakers. Her father passed away in 2013, and his control over control of the Lakers was inherited by Buss as well as her siblings by a trust of the family with each sibling having the same vote. In 2013, she took over the presidency of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss also owns Women of Wrestling, a professional organization that has its headquarters at Los Angeles.
